EXERCISE 11

If you want to have a go with the camera, make two images of the same subject,
one from afar with the telephoto setting on your camera/lens, the other from close to the
subject with the widest setting on the camera/lens. Make some notes in your learning log on
the difference between the images in terms of point of view and the information the viewer can
get from each of your images.
If you’d prefer, make some notes on the differences between the images below:

A building in Nottingham city center

I was walking down the streets of Nottingham when I came across the following building

It is in the corner of Bridlesmith Gate and Byard lane. So the first picture shows the location as well as the neighbourhood.

the second picture focuses on the building itself.
the third one is about the graffiti and the way it is surrounding the building.
the fourth and last one is focusing on the colours and the way they marry together. It was a pleasant surprise to me the feature of the colour tears under the blocked window.

It was a really nice exercise to train my focus. As mentioned by the brief and shown by the photos above, every photo is revealing different characteristics. The lens is capturing the object and when examined they sometimes reveal a lot more than expected: they work as a magnifying glass and they show qualities we sometimes ignore or skip.

Also, taking various photos from a different distance or different ankles, can show various complimentary attributes, which can form a story, making the viewer a witness of an item never seen before.

Great exercise, it made me realize a lot!
